Getting your free NHS contraceptive pill is simple. Here's exactly what happens at each step, from booking to receiving your pill and beyond.
Pick a time that works for you. The whole booking takes about 2 minutes.
Choose a slot that suits your schedule. We're open 5 days a week with morning and afternoon slots available.
You'll pop in a few basic details: your name, date of birth, email and mobile number.
Depending on which pill you need, we may ask for a recent blood pressure reading, your height and your weight. This helps our pharmacist carry out a safe assessment.
Once booked, you'll get a confirmation email with everything you need to know before your call.
A quick, friendly phone consultation with one of our pharmacists.
One of our pharmacists will call you at your chosen time. The call is private, relaxed and usually takes under 10 minutes.
They'll ask a few simple questions about your health, any medications you take, and what you're looking for from your contraception.
If you're continuing a pill you're already on, the call is usually even quicker. We just need to check everything is still right for you.
If you're starting for the first time or switching pills, the pharmacist will talk through your options and recommend the best fit.
All supply is subject to clinical eligibility. If the pill isn't suitable for you, the pharmacist will explain why and suggest the best next step.
Discreet, plain packaging delivered straight to your door.
Your contraception is dispatched by Orford Pharmacy and delivered tracked by Royal Mail.
It arrives in plain, unmarked packaging with no mention of the contents or our service name.
If your appointment is early enough, we post it the same day. Otherwise, it goes out the following morning.
Most deliveries arrive within 1 to 3 working days anywhere in the UK.
You can choose to have it delivered to your home address or a different address if that's more convenient.
When your supply is running low, we'll send you a reminder so you never run out.
You can set your own reminder timing when you book. Choose how many days, weeks or months in advance you'd like to be notified.
When it's time to reorder, simply book another consultation. The process is the same: a quick call to check everything is still right, then your pill is posted straight to you.
There's no need to register again or re-enter your details from scratch. We keep things as simple as possible so you can stay on top of your contraception without the hassle.
If your current pill isn't working well for you, whether that's due to side effects, a change in your circumstances or personal preference, our pharmacists can help.
During your consultation, let the pharmacist know you'd like to discuss alternatives. They'll review your medical history and talk through the options available to you.
Switching pills is a normal and common part of finding what works best. Many women try more than one type before settling on the right fit.
If the pharmacist recommends a different pill, they'll explain how to make the switch safely, including when to start and whether you'll need any additional contraception during the changeover.
Before we send out each new supply, one of our pharmacists will carry out a quick review over the phone to make sure everything is still right for you.
They'll check for any changes in your health, medications or lifestyle that might affect your suitability.
For those on the combined pill, an updated blood pressure reading may be needed as part of this review.
If you need advice or help at any other time, you can book in for a call whenever suits you. You don't have to wait until your next supply is due.
It's completely free, NHS-funded, and takes about 2 minutes to book.
